The Exhibition is in the Greek language only.
The Goulandris Natural History Mueseum and Insurance Company GENERALI Hellas S.A., in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, present a unique digital Exhibition on the earthquakes. Its purpose is for visitors to “explore” the earthquake, to learn how they can be protected and familiarized with this natural phenomenon, which is particularly important for our country Greece, as it is characterized by intense seismic activity.
Virtual reality, new technologies, experiential exhibits and interactive applications will thus have the opportunity to experience those who visit the original digital Earthquake Museum Exhibition that reopened for the public at the GAIA Center οn April 1, 2022!
Due to the Covid ’19 pandemic, the exhibition was suspended. The new cooperation of the Museum with the Insurance Company GENERALI extends its duration for 2 more years until May 2024
The Digital Earthquake Museum exhibition is an original, educational initiative that allows visitors to “tour” and get to know this natural phenomenon through interactive applications and innovative high-tech methods. Unique earthquake models, which provide information on earthquakes, educational videos, showing significant earthquakes in Greece from 1900 to the present, live broadcasting of seismic vibrations in real time, are some of the exhibits.
The interactive experience of the exhibition is complemented by the “seismic bank” and “virtual reality chair”, as well as the “Earthquake in the City” and “Seismic” applications, where the public will be informed on how to protect themselves when an earthquake occurs. The “Earthquake in the Museum” Program also includes educational programs for elementary, high school and high school students starting in the fall, as well as two workshops for teachers and the general public.
