EVENT IN HONOR OF THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE GOULANDRIS NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the Museum honored its volunteers for their invaluable contribution during yet another productive academic year (2023-2024), which concluded with the best possible prospects for its upcoming era as a National Museum.

Since its inception, the Museum has relied significantly on its volunteer staff, which today numbers many dozens of members. Young students at the start of their careers, as well as older individuals, who wish to spend their time creatively and be part of an active and dynamic team, volunteer at the GNHM. Areas such as Educational Departments, the Gift Shop, Visitor Reception and Management, Research Laboratories, and the Artistic Department rely on volunteer contribution for their proper functioning.

The President of the Museum, Mrs. Fali Voyatzaki opened the event, emphasizing in her speech: “We thank you for your invaluable contribution to the function of the museum; each of you puts a little stone to this important endeavor. Now that we are moving forward as a national museum of natural history, your help becomes even more important and is especially valuable!”

The evening continued with a fine dinner, music, and a trivia game among volunteer teams, adding a particularly entertaining aspect to the event. It concluded with commemorative gifts offered to all the volunteers, while the winning teams of the trivia games “Earth for All” and “Biodiversity” received additional symbolic gifts for their victory.
