In the presence of the Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the Deputy Regional Governor, Mayors, representatives of local government, academics, education officials, teachers and students, the Conference on Climate Change titled \u201cStudents in Action for the Climate\u201d was held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Museum\u2019s Amphitheatre. The event was organized by the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Attica in collaboration with the Goulandris Natural History Museum.<\/p>\n
In the keynote speech \u201cClimate Change: Past, Present and Future,\u201d Academician Mr. Christos Zerefos presented scientific data on the acceleration of climate change, the increase in carbon dioxide, global warming and extreme weather phenomena, while emphasizing the importance of the Paris Agreement and renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n
The Conference highlighted the connection between science, society and education, featuring 21 presentations by 240 students from 18 schools, addressing climate change, extreme weather events, sustainable diet, microplastics, water, carbon footprint and the psychological impact of the climate crisis. The students\u2019 contributions also included theatrical, musical and dance performances, as well as artistic creations.<\/p>\n
