The Museum Today

The National Museum of Natural History Goulandris is a non-profit foundation with a mission to conduct research, provide education, and protect nature. Since its establishment, it has been a point of reference for the study and understanding of Greece’s natural wealth, as well as for cultivating environmental awareness in society.

GOALS

The collection, documentation, research, and promotion of Greek flora, fauna, geology, and paleontology.

Environmental education and public awareness, helping people understand the impact of their daily choices on the environment and encouraging them to take action for its protection.

The study and tackling of critical environmental issues of our time, such as pollution, biodiversity loss, and the climate crisis.

Participation in research programs and collaboration with scientific institutions and organizations in Greece and abroad.

Monitoring of the natural environment and the impacts of climate change, protection of ecosystems, promotion of innovative cultivation methods, and research into the use of Greek plants in pharmaceutical production and overall quality-of-life improvement.

VISION

The Museum aspires to be a model center for environmental research, education, and protection, inspiring actions that lead to a sustainable future. It envisions a society where science and environmental responsibility guide decisions that serve both humanity and nature.
