January Sowing

In January, sowing begins with the selection of plants that are tolerant of low temperatures or capable of developing in a protected environment. Spring onions, parsley, spinach, and chicory are sown directly into the soil, as they thrive in cool conditions. Eggplant requires a warm environment and is therefore started in a seedbed, while roses are sown with patience, as they require specific conditions to germinate. Blueberries and chestnuts are more demanding plants and are typically cultivated from young plants or seeds that require special care. Sowing during this period represents the first step toward establishing a productive garden in spring.
