For the first time in history, the average global temperature has exceeded 2 degrees Celcium above the highest seasonal average temperature, based on the warming limit adopted in Paris. The Paris agreement, signed in 2015 after the UN Climate Change Conference – COP21 – aims to hold global average temperature increase “well below 2°C above preindustrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels”.
Mosquito-borne diseases have become a major concern not only in our country but all over Europe. Climate change and the resulting temperature increase favor the spread and survival of tropical mosquito species that transmit diseases such as the Dengue fever, the Zika virus disease, yellow fever and Chikungunya.
The 2nd Student Drawing Competition "Niki Goulandris" titled "A beautiful butterfly" was a huge success. On Sunday, June 5th, 2022, a very modest but particularly warm award ceremony was held in the Museum’s garden. The event took place under the strict observance of all health restrictions, for all present parties.
